Lagos to host 2022 Nigeria Reggae Festival

This year edition of Nigeria Reggae Festival (NIREF) is set to hold in Lagos. The marketing manager, King David while briefing pressmen said organizer of the festival are already preparing to kick start the festival.

The organizer of the festival, Music Awake Foundation (MUAFA) under the leadership of Prince Emeka Ojukwu, a renowned event planner, philanthropist and music promoter whose impacts cut across the globe stated the idea behind the festival, its essence to reggae music and to upcoming reggae artists.

Prince Ojukwu said, “the idea behind “Nigeria Reggae Festival” is to preach one Nigeria, one Africa. Nigeria Reggae Festival is a platform to generate funding to promote the upcoming artist. It is an event where foreign reggae artist will be present and Nigeria reggae artist and Africa reggae in the diaspora will have the opportunity to collaborate with them.

“Nigeria Reggae Festival is a platform for cultural exchange between Caribbean, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Africa in the diaspora. It is a tool to use to bring tourist to the host state.

“If you look at what is happening in Nigeria and other African countries today, there is a kind of tribal and religious war in almost all part of Africa and the only thing that can unite us is music, and reggae music indeed has all it takes to make this happen.

“We feel that Nigeria Reggae Festival could be used to preach peace and unity in Nigeria and Africa so as to build the kind of society everybody will be happy to contribute their own quota to its growth,’’ he said.

Running from 11th to 13th November, at Lagos International Trade Fare Motel, this year festival with the endorsement of Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tourism and support from Jamaica government will sure be an outstanding event.

Meanwhile, organisers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure successful hosting of the event.
