Nigerians in the Diaspora have joined the clamour for the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.
A group of Nigerians in the United Kingdom (UK) under the auspices of Nigeria Diasporans for Asiwaju Worldwide, UK chapter in a statement in Abuja on Sunday said the country stands a better chance of being transformed under a Tinubu Presidency.
The Founder and Coordinator of the group in the UK, Hon Ifeoma E. Nwankwo in a commendation letter to the leadership of Tinubu Support Group (TSG) for unveiling the “Legacies of Tinubu” last weekend in Abuja, said the global organisation was set to mobilise Nigerians abroad towards actualising seamless continuation of an APC-led government under Tinubu come 2023.
Appealing to Tinubu to heed the call of many Nigerians within and outside the country to come to the aid of the country by contesting in 2023, Nwankwo said: “Nigeria at this critical time needs the magic wand and political sagacity of a man like Aswaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the country.
“It is on record that Lagos State has continued to excel above other states based on a well thought out and sustainable policies, projects, and programmes that laid the solid foundation the modern Lagos State was built between 1999 and 2007 when Asiwaju was the Governor of the state.
“We have implicit confidence in him, that he has what it takes to repeat what he did in Lagos and transform the economy of the country to the Nigeria of our dream.
“Nobody can deny the fact that of the Class of 1999 Governors in the country, Asiwaju remains the only one that is visible and positively impacting the political landscape. This is a man of vision whose magic wand is capable of turning the fortunes of the country for our good and the generations yet unborn.”
The group called on Tinubu to answer the clarion call and make himself available to serve his country.
According to Nwankwo: “We place a demand on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at this critical point in the life of our dear country to come and lead us. Just as Moses was called to deliver the children of Israel, we call on him to salvage the country from the further wreck.
“For us, it is a call that Asiwaju must answer because the call is the call of the people. God has endowed and prepared him for a time like this. He cannot afford to disappoint Nigerians and dash our hope.”
The group further said: “We join the position of the leadership of Tinubu Support Group (TSG) and ask the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to concede its presidential ticket to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2023 and leave the mobilisation of Nigerians to vote him in as Nigeria’s next President.”
